The sport of fishing from either the seashore or from a boat. Anglers set up their equipment on the beach or go out in a boat to find the fish. Sea angling trips are usually a good way to meet fellow anglers. Beach fishing tends to be more solitary.

Popularity
Sea fishing tends to be popular in the UK but the locations are not as prolific as with coarse fishing. however, the sea angler has the possibility of taking his catch home as the quarry tends to be more edible than its river/lake-bound cousins.

Location
Can be from an accessible beach or on a boat. If you are lucky enough to own a sea-going boat then the opportunity for fishing will present itself. Others might like to hook up with an organised sea-fishing trip with friends or fellow anglers

Age
Sea angling can be enjoyed by anglers of all ages. Young children should be supervised when near the sea, especially while on-board boats, when life jackets should always be worn.

Ability
No specific abilities are required and often anglers are introduced to the sport at a very young age. If their friends/parents are keen sea anglers they tend to become sea anglers themselves.

Description
Angling is a form of fishing generally associated with sport or recreational fishing. Specifically, angling is the practice of catching fish by means of an angle (hook). The hook is attached by fishing line to a fishing rod. A fishing reel is fitted to the rod which acts as a means to store, retrieving and pay out the line. Hooks which come in a variety of sizes, can be dressed with lures or bait and are attached to the line using a variety of recognised anglers knots.

Dedication
The one thing that anglers need is to be very patient. It might be a few minutes but could just as easily be several hours between catching fish. In fact many anglers will spend all day by or on the sea only to return home without any fish caught.

Potential
Unlike fresh water fishing, sea angling is predominantly fishing for food, although there are many competitions for the heaviest catch or the heaviest fish caught on the day. to many the satisfaction of catching and landing a really good fish.
