Langadi was originally an Indian playground game, with many local variations. Formalised to a standard with rules in 1935. Langadi is a team game of tag, contested in a 15 - 20 foot circle, in which players instead of running, hop.

Langadi is played by boys and girls.
The game is played in a circular field of between 15 - 20 feet in radius, the size being determined according to the age or height of the players.
Description
Langadi is contested between two teams, each of nine players Play starts with a toss of a coin, to decide which team are to be the defenders or the attackers.
One player from the attacking side enters the field hopping through a marked entrance and tries to touch and put out the defenders who run or dodge within the boundary. Only three defenders enter the field at a time. The hopping chaser must not, while in the field, touch the ground with any part of the body other than the hopping foot.
Dedication
The game consists of two innings on each side. Each innings is of seven minutes duration.
