Hawking or falconry is the sport of taking wild prey in its natural habitat by means of trained hawks. When hunting the quarry is either killed by the hawk as it would in the wild, or it escapes unharmed.
Popularity
No more than three thousand people practise falconry as a field sport in the U.K. It is essentially a solitary and time consuming pastime. The training and management of a bird of prey require both skill and dedication.
Location
Birds of prey are kept in all sorts of area across the land, but need large tracts of open countryside on which to hunt.
