Rodeo is a sport which arose from the working practices of livestock ranching and herding. the modern sport consists of several different events that involve cattle and horses, designed to test the skill and speed of the cowboy or cowgirl.
Popularity
Rodeo is not a sport considered acceptable for animal welfare reasons within the UK. Rodeo is still an important sport within countries with large rural areas, such as Spain, Mexico, The United States of America, Canada, South America and Australia.
Description
Bronc & Bull riding; The attempted riding of bulls and unbroken horses (Broncos).
Roping; Roping encompasses a number of timed events that are based on the real-life tasks of a working cowboy, who often had to capture calves and adult cattle.
Steer Wrestling(bulldogging); An event where the rider jumps off his horse onto a steer
Barrel Racing; A speed event involving making agile turns without knocking the barrels over.
Pole Bending; A speed event involving weaving through a line of poles.
