Work Watching, the much maligned and highly joked about pastime of watching others work. beside being a very therapeutic and entertaining activity, watching others work has several serious and useful aspects that should not be trivialised.

Popularity
Whether as a casual activity, merely pausing to watch or casually glance at a work practise, or going on an officially organised tour. watching others work is a hugely popular activity that we all take an interest in.

Location
Work watching can take place anywhere, A building site in the city centre. At a road works while we are traveling. A rural practise in the heart of the countrside.

Age
There is no age restriction on taking an interest, in work practises. It is a pastime that can be enjoyed as an individual, or by the whole family, while taking a walk.

Ability
There is no particular physical ability necessary to pursuing the pastime of work watching.
Safety should always be the major consideration, both that of the spectator and the workmen.
REMEMBER you are in a work place DO NOT hinder or restrict work

Description
Few can honestly say they have not paused to watch a member of the opposite sex work. On a slightly more serious side, there are two main reasons for watching others work;
* That of general interest.
* To learn by the actions of others.

Where does our food come from? How is it produced?

How was that machine made or assembled?

What are the conditions the workers work in?

These are some of the questions answered by the pastime of work watching.

Dedication
the benefits of allowing the public to view a work site, can be be shown by the number of solid safety barriers surrounding building sites that have viewing windows set into them.

Potential
Many companies have appreciated the potentials of what started out as a public relations exercise, and turned work watching into a business opportunity, by providing organised guided work place tours.

Cost
Occasionally officially organised tours make a small charge, but all casual watching of work is completely free.
