YFC is not just about Farming, it is about becoming a part of a prominent group who not only deal with rural issues but inject a huge element of fun into the social aspect of the group, as well as their personal lives.
Popularity
A highly popular club with associations in UK and Wales governed by NFYFC. Though their are associates in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Both male and female enjoy this group.
Location
Every county has it's committee for YFC, though actual clubs are run from various places.
Age
Junior clubs start from the age of 10 up to 16 years. Once you have reached 16 join a regular group of YFC.
Ability
You need nothing other than a keen interest in rural, interests, activities and people.
Description
YFC is based on being a very sociable club, from arranging local events to raise money for charities and local clubs, tackling concerns in the countryside, helping rural communities and they also run many courses with the Open College Network to gain recognised qualifications. You can join an already existing local club or it is possible to set up your own club and register with you local county committee. Activities vary from club to club based on club members choices.
Dedication
What type of club do you want to be? That is your decision, some clubs mainly focus on the social side of things bringing people together and stopping them from feeling isolated, this is from barn dances to disco even ten pin bowling, though some clubs apart from the social scene like to get down and dirty and tackle some of those rural issues of concern.
Potential
Potential to bring about change, help people and make a difference in rural areas, also the opportunity to learn new skills with the Open College Network. Not forgetting the potential for lots of fun and friendship.
