Wiffle ball was designed to take the place of baseball, stick-ball or softball in restricted areas such as backyards or small recreation areas. The wiffle ball is made of plastic is light in weight and cannot be hit or thrown any great distance.
Popularity
Wiffle ball has become very popular due largely to its versatility. Wiffle ball can be played by two people, a batter and a bowler/fielder. or any equal numbered teams up to five per team. the playing area also needs minimal preparation.
Location
Wiffle ball can be played indoors or outside, Anywhere there is room to have a playing area of around 20ft x 60ft, (8 paces x 23 paces), and Because of the ball design there is virtually no risk of the ball causing injury or damage to property.
Age
Wiffle ball was originally designed for children, but has been adapted so that it has become a highly competitive sport suitable for any age to play.
Ability
Wiffle ball was designed to be played by all, however to play well agility and fast reactions are an obvious advantage.
Description
The playing area is triangular with the batter standing at the point. There are three marked areas, double, triple and home run. The rules of the game are similar to those of baseball. The bowler bowls to the batter from within the triangle, the batter must try to hit the ball into the scoring sections, to score bases or a home run, there is no actual base running. Balls hit outside the playing triangle are fouls and do not score. In team play fielders must stay within there score area.
Potential
Played mainly as a fun recreational game. There are now two man and full team leagues and tournaments, (much more commonly played as a competitive sport in America).

Cost
The cost of a wiffle ball is under £5. In the absence of a proper wiffle bat, a short broom handle is all that is required. Field markings can be simple rubber mats, but are often the coats and jerseys of the players.
