Poetry; is a written art form, usually written in rhyming verse, dealing with emotional or descriptive subjects. Some words may be literally adapted, in form, sound or meaning to fit the poem, (hence the saying to use poetic licence).
Popularity
The writing and appreciation of poetry, has been a popular pastime throughout civilised history, none more so than today. There are more books published on poetry than almost any other subject, and many societies dedicated to individual poets.
Location
Although there are many poetry appreciation groups (circles). Poetry is best written alone in a quiet place where the poet can concentrate and totally immerse himself in thought.
Age
A very wide range of age can both write and enjoy poetry. There are many levels of sophistication and length of poem.
Ability
As with other creative arts and activities, poets soon develop a style of their own. An important ability to posses is the ability to think and write creatively, and to posses an understanding and appreciation of words.
Dedication
