Tumbling is a series of leaps and acrobatic somersaults undertaken in one continuing movement. Often referred to as floor gymnastics. Often included in a gymnastics routine, tumbling is now trying to achieve recognition as a sport in its own right.
Popularity
Tumbling has always been popular as a casual activity and as part of gymnastic routines and displays. It is now, and rightly so, rapidly becoming popularly recognized as a competitive sport on its own merits.

Age
Children from as young as two or three years can be introduced into simple tumbling feats.
Ability
The ability to tumble, leads to confidence and flexibility that is important in gymnastics and many activities where space awareness is important.
Description
Tumbling in its simplest of forms is no more than a series of front somersaults, (often referred to by young children as roly-poly's). As a serious sport it is a series of moves consisting of cartwheels, back hand springs, round offs, tucks, splits and twists, executed with great precision and at great speed. Scoring is based on a combination, of difficulty of the complete routine and of the individual elements making it up. And secondly on the presentation and execution of the routine.
Dedication
Dedication is essential in tumbling, to maintain fitness, suppleness and technique.

Cost
There are no great costs involved with tumbling; The personal clothing is no more than a leotard and pair of good gym shoes. And the need to belong to a Gymnastic or Tumbling club.
