Gateball is a mallet team sport, played by two teams of five players. Originating in Japan in 1947 it is a very similar game to croquet.
Popularity
Originating in Japan there are now 15 affiliated member countries of the World Gateball Union,being most common in Asia and South America. There are now more than 8 million people who play gateball worldwide.
Age
Gateball can be played by anyone regardless of age or gender, it is a mixed gender sport.

Gateball is a fast-paced, non-contact, highly-strategic team game.
Description
Gateball is played on a rectangular court 20–25 metres long and 15–20 metres wide. Each court has three gates and a goal pole. The game is played by two teams of five players. Each player has a numbered ball corresponding to his or her playing order. Teams score one point for each ball hit through a gate and two points for hitting the goal pole, in accordance with the rules. A game of gateball lasts for 30 minutes.
