Description
A Tea Dance is carried out in the afternoon, a tea is provided of sandwiches, cakes and tea or coffee. People join in as singles, couples or a group of friends, the original Tea Dances were thought of for genteel society and ballroom type dances are that which are carried out, traditionally there would have been a live band or orchestra known as a Palm Court Orchestra who would play classical style music, this were designed as social and for fun.

The Tea Dance tradition is still alive and kicking, though more these days are organised by local people for local dances, join a dance near you and help out, from making the teas, to playing music, to getting people up and having a dance, events vary some may be a regular once a week event others maybe fortnightly or monthly, sunday afternoon was a favoured time though dances are held midweek in places. Traditionally dances lasted for 3 hours.
