Description
Model furniture making, or miniature furniture reproduction is the duplication of all carpentry techniques on a much smaller scale. Most Models are adapted to 1/12th scale and some 1/24th. Though this is not a standard, it is an unofficial recognised standard amongst those that do the art. Modelling of this nature is very precise and the knowledge of woods and grain flow is much more important for joint creation, finished effect and stability.
Dedication
The dedication in this art form is more patience than anything else, as the intricacies involved, especially making joints like dovetailing can be very trying because of grain in the timbers. Hence hardwoods being used in a lot of cases like Mahogany.
Potential
There are many places of potential to show off your art form and to share with fellow modellers such as Fairs and National Exhibitions where you can enter rewarding competitions. Modelling of this caliber is also very useful for film props activity.
