The aim of the wagon model maker is to create an accurate and authentic model in every detail, ideally, to museum standard. There should never be any improvisation or guess work, the model should be a visual three-dimensional historical record.

Popularity
Many of these vehicles are preserved in museums, others are not, and it is only through the dedication, research and love by a small number of people, that the history and preservation of these remarkable vehicles have not been lost, forever.

Location
These models can be seen in museums, country fairs, county shows and Exhibitions where they do Modelling, If you see Doll House Modelling then you will find these there also.

Age
The practice and making of these intricate models is for the hands of the mature tradesman as a rule. Outside of age its the love and dedication that's more important.

Ability
Ideally you need to know and maybe be a tradesman in woodwork, metalwork, painting and decorating, carving and upholstery.

Description
The skills that are required by the model maker include woodworking, metalworking, carving, upholstery and painting. The making of a farm waggon can take over 100 hours, a Ledge caravan or omnibus may require several hundred hours. If the model is built to a very high museum standard, the price a collector would be expected to pay for the farm waggon would be approaching ?500 pounds, ($900) and that of the Ledge caravan or omnibus may fetch over ?2,500 pounds, ($4,000).

Dedication
Veteran craftsmen are the creative heart of Scale Reproductions. Years of experience and creative skill pick up where technological leaves off to complete each scale rendition and this is the dedication required. Creating a museum quality model is not easy. Almost anyone can put together miniature parts out of a box, but fabricating a professional replica takes talent, skill, precision and dedication.

Potential
Constructional methods can quite easily follow full sized practice in most cases. Some have proved that it is really easier to build a miniature wheel following wheelwrights methods than to fiddle about with bodge-ups.

Closely Related Activities
As stated before closely related activities are woodworking, carving, metalwork, painting, upholstery, wheelwright skills. This practice can and has in cases led to full size duplication.
