Motor Racing in general covers a wide spectrum of events and abilities in racing cars from the average family car to specialised and restricted modification, such as super cars.

Popularity
There are nearly 800 registered motor clubs, who organise almost 5,000 events in 22 different disciplines. Over 30,000 individuals hold MSA Competition Licences, but there are at least 100,000 competitors in total.

Location
Mostly motor sport is outdoors, it features on its own club sites, it appears at shows and local fairs. It has international raceways. It has great facilities in places for being able to camp at venues making it a great family break.

Age
Anyone over the age of 8 can drive competitively within certain disciplines of the sport.

Ability
Competitors in over 70% of UK motor sport events do not require MSA licences; only club membership cards are necessary. When members of other clubs compete, however, licences are mandatory.

Description
Anyone over the age of 8 can drive competitively within certain disciplines of the sport, and there are opportunities for even severely disabled drivers. As for cars, many forms of motor sport can be tackled with completely standard road cars, while others permit only very limited modifications.

Dedication
If you prefer not to compete at all but still dedicated, there are opportunities to marshal, to help with organising, or simply to spectate. For example, the largest single event of the British sporting year, September's Wales Rally GB, needs around 3,000 volunteer officials and marshals. Last but not least, you can seek permanent employment in motor sport. Britain is the very centre of the motor sport world, employing around 50,000 people full-time and another 100,000 part-time

Potential
The potential in motor racing is vast, available to all ages and sexes. It is probably the most spectated sport in the country outside of football and probably at times exceeds it. The potentials for life careers and other related positions is vast.

Closely Related Activities
There are many activities in this field which include truck drivers, mechanics, engineers, tyre fitters, electricians, computer programmers, salesmen, secretaries, and people in public relations, administration and planning.

Cost
Depending on which level you are going into determines the price, motor racing is a sport for all stages from the amatuer to the professional, from the 10 pound banger, to the many thousands F1. You will find something you can afford if its your wish to participate and your desire to race. However if you just want to participate as a volunteer then there is no cost other than travelling and club fees.
