Sing songs are the spontaneous singing of songs, by a group of people for their pure entertainment and the pleasure. Sometimes musically accompanied, but not necessarily.

Sing songs can held where ever a group of people meet socially, in the home, in the local public house or meeting place. An activity normally associated with warmth and plenty of good food and drink, a time of fun and good humor.

Sing songs can be enjoyed and joined in, by any age, there is never a restriction on age or singing ability. When having a sing song the saying the more the merrier really does apply.

A sing song is an activity with no rules, standards or official time limits. The singing of popular well known songs by the majority, sometimes accompanied sometimes not. People with individual talents being encouraged to perform their party piece, (the playing of an individual instrument or the solo singing of a song) The singing is often accompanied by hand clapping. The emphasis being on a time of enjoyment. An activity that breaks social barriers and shyness.
