Roller skating is both a form of recreational leisure and is host to a range of competitive sports, enjoyed by both males and females. Roller skates are devices worn on the feet to enable the wearer to glide along on wheels, gracefully and at speed.

Location
Roller skating is often done on the road, pavements, and park roadways. Skaters are encouraged to use Skate parks and specially constructed tracks and areas. Where they can avoid the dangers posed from traffic, and annoying members of the public.
Age
Roller Skating is a family activity that appeals to a large age range, popularly from around eight years of age through to those in their forties, although people in there sixties and seventies are commonly seen enjoying skating as a recreation.
Ability
The basic skill of roller skating is a once gained, never forgotten ability, Similar to that of riding a bicycle; NERVE, BALANCE and CONFIDENCE. There will be early tumbles but these will quickly be over come and full proficiency rapidly follows.
