Stilt walking is an art performed on stilts, long pieces of wood with footholds, in circuses throughout the world, usually performed by clowns, now it is used in other areas.

Traditionally in the circus, though now as street entertainment, classes, some people find it fun to participate in charity walks wearing their stilts.

Young children with adult supervision there is no upper age limit.

A good head for heights, sense of balance and a good sense of humour, there are no formal qualifications needed for this interest.
Description
Traditionally performed by the clowns at the circus, stilts started off as long pieces of wood with footholds placing a person a foot+ above the floor they also extended up so you could have a hold to help steady. Today (2006) stilts have evolved and are now also made from metal and are for the professional strapped straight to the leg, usually used for street entertainment, with people dressing up as clowns or mystical characters, how tall you want your stilts is up to you, make or buy a set.
Dedication
Like most new disciplines we learn, dedication is the key, if you want to become a confident and able stilt walker then you will need 100% dedication to get you up in the air and keep you up there.
Potential
To join a parade and perform in public, bringing smiles to peoples faces and even raising money for charity.
