Weight lifting is a form of 'Heavy Sports' some people use weight lifting purely to tone their bodies and look aesthetically pleasing, some take it as a serious sport lifting HUGE weights.

Young adults to no upper age limit enjoy weight lifting.

Ability
You will need a good sense of health and with most sports it is sensible to either have a medical check up, though most Gym's and sports centres run an induction course of their own.

Description
Weight lifting has been a popular sport for many years, people enjoy weight lifting from simple aspects of a weekly physical work out to maintain fitness and tone their bodies, to becoming a serious athlete in the sport, training everyday and following a strict diet regulating parts of the diet such as proteins and carbohydrates to obtain maximum performance, these athletes go onto perform in shows and competitions, this is enjoyed by both men and women.

Dedication
If you decide to take up weight lifting as a serious sport you will need 100% dedication and this will require a trainer and nutritionist. If you are training for purely fitness reasons you can find an instructor at a gym or sports centre, who will guide you through a balanced programme, suiting each stage as your fitness progresses.

Potential
Potential to obtain maximum fitness or take it beyond to competition level, gaining prizes and trophies, be the best and work toward competeing in the Olympics.

Cost
Costs to consider or, membership fees, appropriate sportswear, if setting up a gym at home check for up to date prices on equipment.
