A judge decides the outcome of a competition. Sporting events where there is a style element, or Showing competitions of either animal, vegetable or mineral content, all are decided by a judge or panel of judges.

Popularity
Judges are required for every activity that holds a contest where looks, movement or taste are the criteria.

Location
Judges are required across the country from local village flower shows to international gymnastic events, the judges verdict is as keenly anticipated at every contest at every level of contest.

Age
Judging is not normally an activity bestowed on a child as the important aspects are experience and the ability to be impartial and not be influenced by any competitor.

Ability
Judging is not an activity you take up, it is one that a person is asked to under take, because of the respect for that person from within the activity. This is made up from experience and knowledge of the activity, and an ability to be impartial.

Description
Whether judging an artistic sport or a best of breed dog show, all aspects of judging are the same. From a set standard for the competition the judge marks the competitors on how close they come to perfection, and the one that is closest wins, the only exception being where taste is an issue and that is down to the judges personal preference.

Dedication
As this is an activity that a person is asked to perform, there is no necessary dedication required other than to turn up on the day and do your best.

Potential
Having been asked to be a judge is the potential, as it shows the respect for you from within the activity. Although getting a reputation for being a fair and knowledgeable judge, will get you further engagements.
