Six and Out is a socially played variant of cricket, using a bat and ball, played by a group of any age of players. The difference between cricket and Six and Out is, in Six and Out If a batsman hits the ball to the boundary he is automatically out.

Popularity
Six and Out is played at family and social outdoor gatherings, as it can be started quite spontaneously with very little equipment, and including all who want to play.

Location
The playing area depends on the area available and the age and fitness of the players. Six and Out can be played in the back garden, a local park or sandy beach, a sandy beach being best as it is the easiest on which to mark out the playing area.

Age
Six and Out is a social game that can be played by any number of players, of any or mixed ages, making it an ideal family game that is spontaneous to start with flexible rules and great fun for all to play.

Ability
Six and Out is a great leveler of abilities, the agility and lack of size of the young against the experience and cunning of the more aged.

Description
Six and Out as in Cricket is a team game played between two teams of eleven players on a pitch which is 22 yards long with stumps (wickets) at either end. Two batsmen are in play at all times and a bowler from the opposing team attempts to get the batsmen out by bowling at the stumps. Knocking the stumps over gets the player out. There are also other ways for a batsman to be out. The team that is bowling position fielders around the pitch in an attempt to catch the batsman or stump him.

Dedication
As Six and out is a social game with flexible rules and player numbers. If the number of players falls below eleven, team play is dropped in favour of individual scores, with all non batsman taking up field positions.

Potential
The idea of Six and Out is to prevent hard hitting of the ball, and the speeding up of the game.

Closely Related Activities
Six and Out is similar to many social bat and ball games especially as the rules are flexible to suit the individual event. Closest being French Cricket, Tip and Run and rounders.

Cost
As ball games go Tip and Run must be one of the cheapest to play, needing just an old cricket bat and tennis ball. There are no club or ground fees to pay, nor is any special clothing necessary. Idealy the bat should be a suitable size for the smallest player.
