The mechanical challenge of creating a means of transport, powered only by human power, has always held a fascination. Taking to the air or creating the ability to travel beneath the sea (water), poses extra technological challenges.

Location

The first human-powered International Submarine Race was held in Florida in 1989 with 17 craft taking part.
