Street dancing, is an umbrella term, used to describe modern dance styles that have evolved in nightclubs and discos, and are still evolving within the hip hop culture today: such as breakdance, popping, locking, hip hop new style and house dance.

Street dancing can be performed anywhere there is music. Because of its popularity and very energetic nature, it is increasingly included within Fitness and Keep Fit venues, as a form of physical education.

Street Dance is under constant development as dancers include new moves, which might give birth to a completely new dance form.

Although streetdancing is a spontanious action, choreography is also seen, mostly mixed within sections of the improvisation or used for prepared shows and competitions.

Today, serious street dance competitions are increasingly popular, and a number of large annual international events are taking place around the world.These contests focus mainly on choreographed shows.
