"Five In A Row" is either a board game or a pencil and paper game, played between two players.
Players alternately place markers on a gridded board. The winner being the first player to make an unbroken row of five markers.
Popularity
The game of "Five in a Row" is well-known in many countries of the world, each country having its own name for it. However most attribute the games origins to the Chinese game of "Gomoku".

Description
Players choose a personal distinguishingly mark. (a nought or a cross or use differing coloured pens). Players then alternate in placing their mark on an empty grid intersection. The winner is the first player to get an unbroken row of five marks horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, completed lines do not have to be straight.
