Via ferrata is the Italian word for "iron road", and gives its name to the new climbing sport which uses mountain routes which are equipped with fixed cables, ladders, and bridges. Making mountains accessible to a wider range of climbing abilities.
Popularity
Via ferrata has become a popular activity, both with climbers and Hill walkers, it is often included within Alpine walking expaditions
Location
Via ferrata were originally built in the Dolimites to aid troup movements in the 1st world war. These routes are now used for recreational climbing in England and most European moutain areas, and more recently in the U.S.A. Canada and Malaysia.
Age
Minimum age is restricted largely by parental common sense.
Ability
A reasonable level of fitness, sure-footedness, an awareness of climbing and mountain dangers and a freedom from vertigo are important, most routes allow the 'ordinary person to taste the thrills of the mountains and mountaineering.

Cost
The English Via ferrata Costs ;
£25 for an adult 16 yrs and over.
£20 children 10 to 15 yrs (minimum height restriction 1.30mtrs).
£85 family ticket.
For these costs, all equipment will be provided and tours will be guided by fully qualified staff.
