Shogi also known as Japanese Chess.

Shogi is an ancient Japanese game, said by many to be the insperation for Chess. Shogi is still popularly played in Japan today.

A traditional board game of Japan.

All ages, from around eight years and upwards may play and enjoy Shogi.
Shogi is a game that may be played by mixed ages.
Ability
Shogi is a game of tactics, stratagy, cunning and skill. Expertise is only obtained by much practise.
Description
Shogi is similar to Chess in that it is played between two players ('black' and 'white'), and that the object is to checkmate the opponents king. Shogi is also very different from Chess. A few of the main differences being;
* Shogi may be played on anything from a 7x7 board to a 25x25 board. The most common the being the popular 9x9 version.
* Captured pieces may be re-entered by the capturing player.
* Pieces may be promoted under certain circumstances.
Dedication
Shogi pieces are usually wedge shaped and pointed. There is no difference between blacks and white pieces, because captured pieces need to be able to be re-entered after capture.
In the actual game, the direction in which a piece points indicates which side it is on. The pieces are identified with Japanese characters.
