Speedsailing is a cross between windsurfing & skateboarding. Originating in France in the 1980s, the idea was developed as a light wind and winter alternative to windsurfing. Much of the equipment used in windsurfing can be used for speedsailing.
Ability
Despite the “extreme sport” potential, Speedsailing is fun for everybody, from moseying along the shore, long distance adventures or racing in championships, there’s something for everyone!
Description
The Speedsail consists of a standard windsurfing rig, mounted in the same way to a 1.90M board, which steers using the same principle as a skateboard. The advantage lies in that the reduced friction of travelling on four wheels lessens the power required to travel at the same speed on the water.
