Sure Start is an activity for parent and child involvement. Sure Start is a Government funded initiative, with the aim of giving children the best possible start in life. through improvement of childcare, early education, health and family support.
Age
The programme is intended to support families from pregnancy until children enter reception class, but is extended to cover an undefined responsibility for children with disabilities aged up to fourteen or sixteen.
Description
Sure Start children's centres aim to give every child the best possible start in life. They are places where families can easily access a range of different services to support them, including:
Information and advice on family support services.
Drop-in sessions for parents, carers and childminders.
Access to early education and childcare for children under five.
Access to child and family health services.
Links with Jobcentre Plus, further education and training opportunities.
