Ability
Speed-Flying and its variations are very dangerous with a high risk of injury or even death. Top Speed-Flyers can reach speeds in excess of 100km/h, and unlike Paragliding you don't have a reserve/safety parachute if if anything goes wrong.
Description
More correctly Speed-Flying is the term for the summer sport flying down snow free slopes after foot launching with no ground contact until landing. Whereas Speed-Riding is the term for the winter sport of flying down snow covered slopes with skis and frequent ground contact.
Speed-Flying is now becoming the general definition which covers both activities - both riding and flying and everything in between.
