Swooping is an extreme competitive sport of three disaplines, competed by experienced paraglider pilots and skydivers. testing pilot skill and canopy control. The disaplines are Speed, Distance and Accuracy.
Ability
Swooping and its variations are very dangerous with a high risk of injury or even death. Top compeditors can reach speeds in excess of 100km/h, and should only be attempted by very experianced sky divers or paraglider pilots.
Description
Swooping is very similar to the sport of Blade Running.
In Swooping the pilot exits an airplane scoring points for tricks and style for their controlled swoop and landing. Being competed over three stages. One testing speed another accuracy and finally distance. The landing is normally over water or grass.
Blade Runners, exit the airplane flying their open parachute down a marked course of Blade shaped flags.
