SAR is a UK voluntary organisation which provides teams who assist the emergency services in the search for missing persons. Local SAR units are co-ordonated nationally by ALSAR (Association of Lowland Search and Rescue).
Description
The main purpose of local SAR units, is to assist in the search for vulnerable missing persons in urban, rural and lowland areas.
Dedication
In addition to search & rescue they also provide support and assistance at major/critical incidents, which include fires, floods and rail/air disasters. And may be called upon to give assistance to emergency services during adverse weather conditions, by providing 4x4 vehicle support, delivering essential supplies, transporting members of staff or patients and providing evacuation transport.
