Slopestyle is a winter sporting event in which the intention is to perform tricks and jumps over a course filled with various types of jumps and other obstacles. The emphasis is on style and difficulty of trick and the altitude and style of jumps.
Popularity
Slopestyle is a recent addition to the winter sporting scene, which has rapidly become one of the most popular events with the public at Winter Games.
Location
Slopestyle snowboard and skiing is performed on specially made trails on ski mountains. These trails are popularly known within the sport as Terrain or Jib parks.
Ability
Before attempting to Slopestyle, a high degree of competence in snowboarding and a general gymnastic ability should already be obtained, along with nerves of steel.
Description
Snowboarders travel down a slope dotted with obstacles, including quarterpipes, rails and progressively higher jumps. Performing feats of aerial acrobatics and tricks including head-over-heels flips and jumps with full body revolutions. Obstacles include tables and a variety of balancing rails and often a Joy stick, (a sphere is mounted on top of a pole. The aim of this obstacle is to hit the sphere with the tip of your board or hands while clearing the jump.

Slopestyle is scored by a panel of judges spaced around the slope. The score is scored according to;
Flow
How fluid is the rider in line choice, execution of maneuvers, landing and movement through the course.
Creativity
How well does the rider make creative / artistic use of the course
Technical difficulty
How hard are the moves and how well are they being performed.

Hard to describe, but the most important.
