Indoor Athletics follows the same disciplines as outdoor athletics, although running races tend to be held over shorter distances and demand quite different techniques from the athletes, due to the smaller tracks and tighter bends.
Popularity
This is a very popular activity in the outdoor, out of season period. Although some athletes specialise in the indoor events, too many it is a way of keeping competitively fit in the out of season period.

Sports centres for Indoor Athletics are springing up all over the UK and Internationally.
Age
Junior aged children enjoy indoor athletics, there is no upper age limit.
Ability
Whilst the centres are hoping to promote and encourage world class athletes you do not need any special abilities, just join a club and take part.
Description
Indoor athletics is the same as outdoor athletics with tack and field events, such as running, with tracks preferably of 200m though there are some smaller tracks, jumping and throwing events. It is possible to join a sports course in indoor athletics, or just join a club to have fun and promote your own level of physical fitness. By competing indoors in countries such as Great Britain where we suffer unpredictable and useless weather it allows all year round competing.

People competing in this sport like to maintain optimum health and fitness this may also include other areas of physical work out such as a routine at the Gym, helping to build and maintain muscle, diet is also a popular area to follow with people being very careful about the foods and supplements that they take to help with maintaining optimum fitness.
