Speedball is a version of Paintball, a sport in which players eliminate opponents from play by shooting them with paint filled, breakable, gelatin paintballs usually shot from a carbon dioxide or compressed air powered "paintball gun (marker)".

Location
Speedball is normally competed in arenas, which are much smaller in size than the fields used for paintball. Speedball uses artificial obstacles and can be played indoors or outside.

Age
There is no official age restriction in Speedball, although most commercial venues do have their own age restriction for their sight which may vary to suit the day or competition.
A minimum age of 10 or 12 years is normally considered acceptable.

Ability
Necessary requirements of ability are; physical speed, agility, quick reflexes and tactical thinking.

Description
A game of Speedball involves two opposing teams seeking to eliminate all of the other team's players.
Playes are eliminated by shooting (marking) them with a paintball pellet.
Team sizes vary, normally between three and ten players. Since players can see each other and start the game within range of each other, Action between opponents is immediate and lasts the entire game. Because of this Speedball games are much shorter in duration than those of paintball.

Potential
speedball is the only format of paintball that is played professionally and is used in tournament play far more often than other versions of paintball.

Cost
Speedball equipment varies depending on the type of paintball game being played and the skill level of those playing. Every player, however, requires four basic pieces of equipment, all of which are normally supplied by the sight operator, and included within the sessions charge.

Paintball gun (marker).
Paintballs: To eliminate other players.
