Ventriloquism is an activity used to entertain others. A ventriloquist can speak without moving his lips, thus by using a doll, can give the elusion that the doll is talking, and therefore has been brought to life.

There are no age restraints to ventriloquism, it can be performed by all ages. In fact quite young children pick up the skill quicker than older people. Adults will undoubtedly be expected to have a more sophisticated and polished routine.

To be a ventriloquist you must create an elusion, therefore well practised.
A ventriloquist has to be a skilled puppeteer, as well as possess the skill of speaking without moving his or her lips, and have a well rehearsed routine.
Description
The illusion of ventriloquism is just that, an illusion. A ventriloquist is skilled at speaking without moving his or her lips. The audience therefore actually detects the sound of the voice from the ventriloquist’s mouth, but sees only the mouth of the puppet moving.
A skilled ventriloquist can add to the effect by using more than one tone of voice or dialect, therefore giving the appearance of holding a conversation, between himself and the doll or between two dolls.

Cost
The only cost in ventriloquism is the dummy and any props the performer needs in his or her act. Dummies can cost from £1 to many hundreds of pound depending on there sophistication. In fact one of the worlds most famous ventriloquists was Shari Lewis, who made her living with a dummy called Lamb Chop, which was little more than a sock with a lambs face sown on to it. (apologies Lamb Chop if this discription of you, hurts your feelings).
