The art of producing candles generally for decorative purposes and in some instances for lighting purposes.

Many people still appreciate the beauty of a handmade candle and hence the art of candle making is still a very popular one.

Candles can be made at home or anywhere there is an adequate heat source which is required to melt the wax to produce the finished candles.

Recommended for adults or older supervised children due to the fact that many of the materials are of a flammable nature and safety precautions need to be observed.

Making your own candles is an exciting craft that's easy to get started with. A few simple ingredients and some basic tools and equipment that you probably have in your kitchen or garage are all you need to begin making beautiful, fragrant candles.

Until the discovery of electricity and the advent of electric light, candles were the only on-demand light source and candle making at home was quite normal. Today we tend to think of candles as d?cor, something that warms up the home, or is used to mark special occasions like birthdays and religious ceremonies. Candles are easy to make in many different styles, sizes, colors and scents.

As many experienced candle makers know, you have to test a lot before perfecting your candles. Many beginners get discouraged when they make candles the first few times and they don't get the results they hope to achieve. There are different types of wax that the candle maker can use - paraffin is a petroleum based candle wax; beeswax candle wax is made from the wax bees use in their hives; Bayberry candle wax which comes from the shrub of the same name; soy candle wax and several others.
