Racketlon is a combination sport, combining four of the most popular racquet sports into single game (table tennis, badminton, squash and tennis). Players play each other in all four sports, the player who wins most rallies overall is the winner.
Popularity
The sport originated in Finland and Sweden. It is claimed as the world's fastest growing sport, in terms of officially registered players, having grown by 300% in the last three years (2005 - 2008), with almost 2000 ranked players from 48 countries.
Description
A racketlon match contains four sets, one in each sport. Each set is played to 21 points, much like in table tennis, but the total winner of a racketlon match is not the one that wins most sets but the one that scores the most points in total.
The individual disaplines (sets) are played in the order of raquet size; ie Table Tennis, Badminton, Squash, Tennis. Other than short official rules, each of the four sports are governed by their own respective rules.
