Description
Salsa derives from a mixture of Latin dances, Salsa is a fast and highly energetic spot dance (there is no need to travel the whole dance floor) and although it is a dance with recognised solo steps it is highly improvisational, danced by couples there is room for solo cameos. the style is as the name implies "hot and spicy".
Dedication
The origins of the salsa lie firmly in the mamba. In Haiti, the "Mambo" was a voodoo priestess, who served the villagers as counsellor, healer, exorcist, soothsayer, spiritual adviser, and organiser of public entertainment, hence the reason, Mambo is often referred to as the "diabolo"(the devil's dance). In Latin Night Clubs, DJs would shout out salsa, salsa. (Spice it up)! This soon became a faster and more dramatic dance style in its own right, the dance we now know simply as "The Salsa".
