Rugby Union is a full contact sport between two teams of fifteen players, played on a rectangular grass field. Using an oval ball, players may pick up the ball and run with it, kick it or pass it player to player, but not pass it forward.

Rugby Union often simply referred to as Rugby, originated at Rugby school England in 1823. Rugby is now played by both men and women in over 100 countries spanning six continents around the world.

Age
There are several competitive age categories starting with the under twelve competitions up to the under twenty-one year olds. Youths rarely play in senior teams before the age of eighteen.
Description
The attacking team may score by kicking the ball between the posts and above the cross-bar. The ball may only be kicked from the ground: either from a place kick following the award of a penalty or from a drop kick in open play. A successful kick at goal is worth three points. the attacking team may also score by grounding the ball in the in goal area,(a try) and is worth five points. After scoring a try, the attacking team are awarded a free kick at goal,(a conversion), worth two points.

Rugby Union is a game of team tactics played with great passion and needing fitness and stamina from all team members, and as such is not an activity to take part in casually or by the faint hearted. Rugby demands a commitment to achieve the necessary fitness and stamina to achieve team selection as well as training time to learn game tactics and a deep understanding of fellow team members intended moves and passes.

There are many domestic leagues and tournaments to be competed, culminating internationally in the Rugby World Cup, the Women's Rugby World Cup, Under 21 World Cup, Under 19 World Championship, and the Super Cup.
